Dave’s been busy

Filed under: PlanetRDF — JBowtie @ 9:59 pm

Well, my computer is running again, none the worse for wear - in fact, the power supply is a darn sight quieter; unfortunately the heatsink on the CPU more than makes up for this.

As Danny Ayers observes, Dave’s been very busy, upgrading Raptor and Rasqal in the Redland suite and even incorporating my patches. I’ve updated my testing environment to use the new releases and they built with very few changes (new patch will be sent to the list tomorrow).

Unfortunately, I’ve got a bit of a problem, so no new packages just yet. The serializer doesn’t want to instantiate anymore, I’ll have to stick in a breakpoint and find out why (since no error message is produced). In addition, the mySQL stuff is crashing is a way that has got me convinced there is a buffer overrun somewhere. (Specifically, sprintf gets the wrong address for the name parameter, seems to be interpreting the text string as a pointer location).

As soon as I have these two rather critical problems sorted I’ll push out the new binaries, this time with developer packages, C#, and Ruby bindings.

Computer down

Yesterday, while sitting at the computer, there was a loud bang and a puff of smoke from the case. Actually, it was the power supply. So there will be a slight intermission until a new power supply can be installed - of course that may turn into a long pause if any of the components were overloaded by the death of the old one.

We can but hope.
